Screening
and monitoring cholesterol levels is an effective way to reduce
the risks associated with heart disease. During Project ImPACT
Hyperlipidemia study, 93% (vs. 25%) of patients tested with
the Cholestech LDX system achieved compliance to therapy rates
and attained NCEP goals of 62% (vs. 8%)
in earlier studies. The procedure is simple. A drop of blood
is taken from the finger and placed in a cassette. After a few
minutes, the instrument generates a report providing you with
total cholesterol, HDL, LDL, triglycerides and more. A new liver
function ALT (GPT) test to monitor the potential
side effects of cholesterol-lowering drug therapies is now available.
